This is the stage version of the animated Disney musical based on the classic fairy tale. It's the classic love story of Belle, a young woman in a small, provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a prince trapped in a spell placed on him by an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved the spell will be broken and he will be transformed back to his former self. But time is running out, and if the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he will be doomed for all eternity.

Perhaps the weirdest show in New York (and that's saying a lot). Three bald, blue people startle you, thrill you, scare you and make you laugh out loud at their "physical stunts, visual gags, art commentary, audience participation and all-out sensory assault" (Time Magazine).

"Murder, greed, corruption, violence, exploitation, adultery and treachery--all those things we hold near and dear to our hearts." So begins the musical Chicago--and creators John Kander, Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse never back off from their bold and sinister promise. Chicago is the kiss-and-tell tale of Roxie Hart, a chorus girl who kills her lover as a career move; Billy Flynn, a sharp lawyer who turns Roxie into a celebrity; and Velma Kelly, a dancing jailbird with an ear for headlines and an eye for talent. Chicago, winner of six 1997 Tony Awards, including Best Musical Revival, is a loving look back at vaudeville, a timely satire of the justice system, and a reminder of what great theater can be.

In the fall of 1975, a new musical about the hopes and dreams of Broadway dancers opened in New York. It won rave reviews, nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and then went on to become the longest-running American musical ever.

In the fall of 2006, A Chorus Line will reclaim its place in the heart of Broadway. For a new generation, it's a chance to experience the quintessential Broadway musical on Broadway. For others, it's an opportunity to reconnect with a cherished friend.

From Alice Walker's classic Pulitzer Prize-winning novel and the landmark film by Steven Spielberg, comes a soul-stirring new musical. The Color Purple is an inspiring family saga that tells the unforgettable story of a woman, who, through love, finds the strength to triumph over adversity and discover her unique voice in the world. With a moving book and a score featuring gospel, jazz, ragtime and the blues, The Color Purple is ultimately a story of hope, a testament to the healing power of love and a celebration of life.

Fresh from its triumphant run in L.A. (where it won five Drama Critics' Circle Awards), The Drowsy Chaperone swoops onto Broadway full of life, energy, laughter, singing, dancing, champagne, monkeys and Tony winner Sutton Foster, not necessarily in that order. A rare combination of unprecedented originality and blinding talent, The Drowsy Chaperone is a new Broadway musical that boldly addresses a great unspoken desire in all of our hearts: to be entertained. If you've ever sat in a darkened theatre and thought, "Dear Lord in heaven, please let it be good," this is the show for you. It all begins when a die-hard musical-theater fan plays his favorite cast album on his turntable, and the musical literally bursts to life in his living room, telling the rambunctious tale of a brazen Broadway starlet trying to find, and keep, her true love.

With big girls, big hair, and even bigger laughs, comes Hairspray, a splashy new musical based on the 1988 John Waters film. It's 1962 and Baltimore teen Tracy Turnblad has only one dream--to dance on the popular Corny Collins Show. When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star, but she must use her newfound power to vanquish the reigning teen queen, win the affections of heartthrob Link Larkin and integrate a TV network, all without denting her 'do!

The action begins in 1815 as Jean Valjean, a man condemned to 19 years of hard labor for stealing a loaf of bread to feed his family, finds only hatred and suspicion when he is released on parole. Meeting one man who believes in him, Valjean breaks his parole to begin a new life. The story truly begins as Jean Valjean crosses the landscape of early 19th century France, always pursued by the righteous police inspector Javert. From his adoption and love of the orphan Cosette, to the darkly funny plots of the thieving Thenardiers, from the soaring revolutionary fire of the student rebels who fight on the barricade in the streets of Paris to the final confrontation between Jean Valjean and Javert, the story of Les Miserables is one of love, courage and redemption.

The Lion King is the story of a young lion cub named Simba who struggles to accept the responsibilities of adulthood and his destined role as king. To bring the classic 1994 film to life, Disney turned to the story's roots, its rich mythology, powerful human drama and primal African rhythms to create a fantastic new musical unlike anything Broadway has ever seen. Winner of 6 1998 Tony Awards, including Best New Musical, The Lion King is an adventure into another world.

The setting is a Greek island where 20-year-old Sophie is due to be married. Her mom, Donna (who happens to be a former singing star) is there, but her father isn't...because she's never met him. So, Sophie snoops in her mom's diary, chooses three former lovers as likely candidates and invites them to the wedding, hoping she can just figure it out when she sees them! This musical dances to a disco beat, featuring 22 of Swedish singing sensation ABBA's greatest hits, including "Dancing Queen," "The Winner Takes It All,"  "Take A Chance on Me," "Knowing Me, Knowing You" and "Super Trouper". These pop songs weave together an enchanting tale of love, laughter and friendship.

Based on P.L. Travers' cherished stories and the classic 1964 Walt Disney film, Mary Poppins features the Sherman brothers' original Academy Award-winning songs, and Oliver Award-winning director Richard Eyre leads a dream team of vision and stagecraft, bringing to life the story of the Banks family and their magical nanny. Mary Poppins marks the first collaboration between Disney, producer of the acclaimed The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and Tarzan®, and Cameron Mackintosh, legendary producer of the record-breaking The Phantom of the Opera, Cats and Les Miserables. The result is a new musical so extraordinarily enchanting that you'll have just one word for it: "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!"

A hilarious and haphazard musical search for the Holy Grail courtesy of the Monty Python boys. Telling the legendary tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and the quest for the Holy Grail in song, Monty Python's Spamalot features "a chorus line of legless knights, men in tights (with legs), killer rabbits and sexy dancing divas." The production also promises "some of the most unforgettable musical numbers you will ever see in the theater on this evening!" If you haven't figured it out already, Spamalot is an adaptation of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the 1975 film that is the best loved and most successful of the Monty Python screen ventures.

Phantom of the Opera, Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical of the classic gothic horror tale, leaves you joyful, breathless and begging for more. Sumptuously designed, with a thrilling score and breathtaking direction, the story of the mysterious specter who haunts the Paris Opera House continues to impress audiences on Broadway.

This new Mel Brooks musical is based on the movie of the same name. It's the story of down-on-his-luck theatrical producer Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom, a mousy accountant. Together, they hatch the ultimate scam: Raise more money than you need for a sure-fire Broadway fiasco . . . and pocket the difference. Their Broadway brainchild is none other than Springtime for Hitler. The plan backfires because the musical is so terrible, it's a hit!

Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Sondheim's musical masterpiece is set in darkest Victorian England and tells the infamous tale of Sweeney Todd, the demon barber who forms an enterprising business relationship with Mrs. Lovett, the proprietress of the downstairs pie shop. In this chilling and unique production -- a vision of director and set designer John Doyle -- no one leaves the stage and the players are also the pit musicians, with each of the ten actors playing at least two instruments each.

A shipwreck leaves an infant orphaned on the West African shore. The helpless baby is taken under the protection of a gorilla tribe and becomes part of their family. When he eventually encounters his first human--Jane Porter, a curious young explorer--both their worlds are transformed forever. Based on the award-winning animated film, Disney announces its first new Broadway musical in five years, and the remarkable team of artists assembled to tell this story. Six-time Grammy Award winner Phil Collins has expanded his original songs-including the Oscar and Grammy Award winning "You'll Be in My Heart" and "Two Worlds"--creating a complete theater score.

Uniquely connecting the worlds of music, theatre and dance, The Times They Are A Changin' is a fresh exploration of the timeless tale of a young man's coming of age told through the classic songs of music icon Bob Dylan and the bold visual imagination of legendary choreographer and theatre icon Twyla Tharp.

The new music is set within a low-rent traveling circus run by Captain A-rab, whose wagon hasn't moved from its location in some time — though not by lack of effort from his ragtag band of clowns and performers. One such performer is the animal trainer Cleo, a young woman exploited by Capt. A-rab and loved by his son, Coyote. Coyote longs for a world outside the confines of the family business, and as the circus show plays out, he must decide whether to flee or stay, and if he does stay, how to inspire change within the troupe.

A hit off-Broadway, this musical charmer looks for success on B-R-O-A-D-W-A-Y.
Six young people on the edge of puberty strive to become adults in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee--the funny, tender, sardonic musical by the composer of Falsettos. These outsiders use competition to define themselves, apart from their crazy families, while their struggle to escape childhood is overseen by grown-ups who never completely succeeded in escaping it themselves.

The hilarious film comedy about a down-on-his luck wannabe rocker comes to the Broadway stage! This brand-new musical comedy is based on the 1998 comedy of the same name which starred Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore as a singer and a waitress engaged to be married to the wrong people. Robbie Hart is New Jersey's number one wedding singer and the life of every party until his own fiancée strands him at the altar. Bitter and broken, Robbie begins to make every wedding as disastrous as his own until a warm-hearted waitress named Julia intervenes. Only trouble is, Julia's about to be--you guessed it--married!

Long before Dorothy drops in, two girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. Wicked tells the story of how these two unlikely friends grew to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch. This fantasy-filled musical was the winner of three 2004 Tony Awards including prizes for Best Costume Design and Best Scenic Design. From real flying monkeys to a trip to the Emerald City and a soaring, modern score by Stephen Schwartz, Wicked is a true spectacle for the eyes and ears. The twists and turns in Gregory Maguire's incredibly imaginative back-story to The Wizard of Oz makes audiences literally gasp with delight. But not only that, Wicked is a truly heartfelt story of friendship and love. As Richard Zoglin of Time Magazine put it, "If every musical had a brain, a heart and the courage of Wicked, Broadway really would be a magical place!"
